1 November 2010 – not stuck after all

Despite being sick, doing very little exercise and a bit of comfort eating I lost 1.6 pounds this week. Perhaps I’m not stuck after all. The clocks going back played havoc with my body clock and I found it hard to drag myself out of bed this morning and drag myself back to work to face the music.

Although I’m feeling a lot better I’m not quite bug free yet so I’m trying to take it a bit easy but I did walk to work. This was mainly down to the challenge I started on the walkers board on WLR. It’s a virtual walk from Gatwick Airport to Marrakech, a journey I’ve done by plane a fair few times and a distance of
1409 miles. It is going to take some time but the idea is to motivate people, including myself, to get out and get walking. I shall be measuring my distance using my Garmin but people who haven’t got GPS gadgets can count every fifteen minutes walking or running as a mile.

When I walked into the office I wondered what on earth was going on. Everyone was dressed up for haloween and the place was filled to the brim with witches, demons and other assorted scaries. I felt quite out of place, although with my eczema still a bit flared up around my eyes I guess I looked pretty grim myself. Perhaps I should have said I’d come as a zombie.

There was also a huge buffet filled with sweets, crisps and other naughties, plus someone had left a box of smarties and a stick of rock on my desk. I gave the rock and the smarties to Masher, he’s always hungry so he was happy with that. I also walked past the buffet with my eyes shut, not good for health and safety but good for my calorie intake. Luckily I didn’t fall over anything.

Ironically, after a day resisting temptation, when I added up my calories I had spare ones so I could have had a treat after all. Never mind, I’m going to have a nice cup of cocoa and a skinny cow lolly for supper. Probably nicer anyway.
