10 June 2011 – a runner in the family

IMG_2416

This week has been my first week properly back on the wagon since my holiday. Yesterday morning I weighed in and I’ve lost 3 lbs. Now I will be trying to stay on the wagon for the next few weeks by which time I will hopefully be under the lower end of my target weight range and can go back to maintaining. Continue reading

25 June 2010 – burning calories in the garden

image

The garden has been more than a little neglected this year, what with looking for jobs, walking, trying to lose weight and learning the ropes at Mad House, not to mention being worn out half the time with a head that feels like it’s going to explode from all the new things I’m trying to stuff into it. Anyhow, Commando has been getting a little bit antsy about things getting overgrown. When he started threatening to hack at it himself I thought I’d best get to work. Commando is in charge of the lawn, mainly because he knows what grass is and is good at making things all neat. When it comes to flowers and shrubs he’d probably just chop them all down to the ground. Continue reading

23 June 2010 – who says you can’t change anything?

The results of the milk survey were in today when I got to the canteen. The coffee machine has a brand new notice attached to it. ‘By popular demand this machine is filled with skimmed milk.’ There was a brand new row of fruit salad in the cooler too. Who says you can’t change anything? Continue reading

22 June 2010 – a fruit disaster and a fruit success

What kind of milk do you want in the coffee machine?

What kind of milk do you want in the coffee machine?

The fruit pot saga continues. This morning I tried wrapping the plastic notleakproifintheslightest pot in cling film and then putting it in a sandwich bag. When I got to work the sandwich bag was filled with fruit juice and some of it was in my newly cleaned bag. Back to the drawing board again then. Continue reading

21 June 2010 – a weight gain and a fruit disaster

Two stones seems about as much as I can lose

Two stones seems about as much as I can lose

Weigh in this morning and all the treats have caught up with me. Two blasted pounds on! It. It seems like it’s always one step forwards two steps back with me and I’m hurtling towards twelve stone again. Why does this have to be so hard? It almost feels as if two stone is as much as my body wants to lose and as soon as I get below it… Continue reading

19 June 2010 – a fresh fruit kick

Fruit salad, mmm

Fruit salad, mmm

In an effort to get back on track with the weightloss I’ve been on a bit of a fresh fruit kick today. Please note this is not some kind of fad diet, I’m done with those. The plan is to try to replace all the chocolate and bad snacks with tasty fruit. Yesterday I filled my shopping basket with grapes, pomegranate, melon, pineapple and humble apples. Today I made myself a big vat of fruit salad and, when the snack monster attacks that is what I shall be eating.

Will it work? Who knows? Melon balls and pomegranate are delicious though so fingers crossed. I also bought a plastic container that is supposed to be leak proof so I can take some to work with me. Fingers crossed on the leakproofness too. I’m entirely convinced on that.

18 June 2010 – bad food choices and bad football

Stairs, my secret weapon

Stairs, my secret weapon

This week felt like a month at the very least. Going back to work after a week off is always difficult, working at Mad House makes it doubly so. Then there was the change of floor. A different view from a different window and realising I’m incapable of remembering which floor to get out of the lift on from one day to the next. Three days out of four I’ve got out at floor six, walked onto the old floor and then realised I was in the wrong place. Oh well, I guess I’m burning extra calories walking up the stairs.

14 June 2010 – paying for a lazy week

A little present

A little present

Well the week off filled with exercise and perfect eating didn’t go quite to plan. In fact it was almost exactly opposite to the plan and, as a consequence, there was a one pound gain this week. The wii fit trainer is all huffy with me again and I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever conquer this weight loss thing. Continue reading
