17 March 2010 – power cut

image

Eloelia was late again this morning. Apparently her child minder didn’t turn up. She’s pretty unreliable. Ali Rana gave her a real dressing down in front of everyone, said he’d put her on report if it happened again and she’d have to work through break to make the time up. She just flounced off to her desk without a word which wound him up all the more. Continue reading

15 March 2010 – hello, goodbye

image

Surprisingly after the muffin and lunch yesterday I lost another pound this week. Maybe the walking helped? Whatever it was it was a good start to the week. It would have been better if I didn’t have to go to work though and it turned out to be a difficult day. Continue reading

12 March 2010 – walking by the river and pushing too far

image

I love Fridays! Having Fridays off is the only thing that makes working four ten hour shifts at The Mad House bearable. Once again I walked down to the river, right down to the White Swan. There was a real chill in the air this morning so I was all wrapped up with my wooly hat and thick coat. Despite the cold it was sunny and bright and I enjoyed every moment. It hardly seemed like exercise at all really. Maybe if I’d started doing this years ago I wouldn’t have got so fat in the first place. Continue reading

9 March 2010 – disappointment but expected

image

There was a brief moment when I considered not asking for the Monday after the Johnson Paint Trophy Final off at all. Since I started I haven’t had a single sick day so I could have just phoned in on the Monday morning and said I was ill. In my whole life I have never once skived work though and I’m so crap at lying I would never be able to pull it off. Somehow it would seem like tempting fate too. Knowing my luck I’d end up coming down with some terrible illness, having loads of time off and getting sacked because I was one day over the allowed sickness for the year. Continue reading

8 March 2010 – a good news day

image

Today was one of those good news days that almost never happen. It started off with a two pound loss when I weighed in this morning. I have one more week before I get my shiny new crown so some of it is down to the sandpaper tooth and not being able to chew properly. After all this time I’m getting kind of used to that now though so quite a bit of the two pounds must be down to effort on my part. All that Pump it Up, walking to work and then the river walk on Friday have payed off which just goes to show I can do it if I put my mind to it. If I could just keep this up until May a bikini on the beach in Turkey might not be out of the question. There would have to be a huge amount of spray tan before that though or people will be blinded. Continue reading

7 March 2010 – a wardrobe clear out

image

There was more activity today. this time it all revolved round the wardrobe. With the warmer weather coming it was time to clear out the winter clothes, well most of them, you never can tell with the weather in England after all, and get the warm weather stuff out. The only problem with that was the spring summer wardrobe was all way too big. This time last year I was almost a stone heavier. After trying everything on there was a massive pile of stuff that was ridiculously too big, a medium sized pile slightly too big and a teeny, tiny pile that fit. Oh yes, there was a pile of stuff that was too small too but we’ll gloss over that, one day it will fit, I promise. Continue reading

6 March 2010 – being busy is a useful weight loss tool

image

The garden is now tidy. It took most of the day but everything is all cut back, swept up and looking good. It isn’t actually exercise I know but I’m pretty sure it must have burned loads of calories. By the end of the day I could hardly move my arms from all the clipping and sweeping. Still that means they go rather well with the stiff legs from yesterday’s five mile walk. Continue reading

5 March 2010 – walking the weight off

The bomb around the corner from the office was moved early this morning. Unfortunately it didn’t explode and destroy our office building in the process. The Navy bomb disposal people took it out into the sea blew it up at lunch time. Makes me wonder just how many other bombs there might be under buildings in the city? It’s not a very comforting thought. Continue reading

4 March 2010 – bomb scare!

image

There was a bomb scare in town late this morning. Actually it wasn’t exactly a scare because there was a real bomb but let’s not split hairs because no one was aware of that at the time. The first thing we knew about it was the managers walking round the floor shutting all the blinds. Then Ali Rana told us we were not allowed to open them again under any circumstances. No one knew what was going on and rumours were going round like a dose of swine flu. Continue reading
