Why is the weather always terrible on Bank Holidays? There I was looking forward to a nice four day weekend to keep the tan topped up and do a bit more work in the jungle, I mean garden, and what did I get? Rain that’s what. Come to think of it, why are all the Bank Holidays bunched up at the same time of year too? This year there were two in April for Easter there are two in May and then nothing until August. Bank Holidays are like buses, you wait for ages for one and then they all come along together. Continue reading

29 May 2010 – a Sex and the City revelation
Last night Panda, Rae, Primo and I went to Gunwharf to see the new Sex and the City film at the cinema. I can’t remember the last time I went to the cinema, or even watched a film, it’s not something Commando and I really do. Actually I’ve never watched an episode of Sex and the City before either but the girls insisted I came along. They may be a little fed up with me never having seen a single one of the ‘classic’ films they keep going on about like Dirty Dancing. My cinema experiences ended around about the time Silence of the Lambs came out and I have to be honest, I haven’t missed it much. Personally I’d rather read a book. Continue reading
27 May 2010 – a mystery holiday
When I was checking through my work emails this morning before ‘cuddle’ there was one authorising some holiday in August. Seeing as I hadn’t booked any holiday I was slightly puzzled.
“Kim, I think there’s been a mistake,” I said, “I didn’t request any time off in August.”
“Oh,” she said, “you weren’t supposed to get that.”
Somehow she seemed a little shifty and, when I looked at Panda she looked even shifter.
“What’s going on?” I asked, “You both look like you’re up to no good.” Continue reading
24 May 2010 – the small matter of the bag of Maltesers
Today’s weigh in was slightly disappointing. Maybe it was a case of over high expectations rather than a real reason to gripe though because I did lose a pound taking me back to eleven-stone-nine. The thing is, after the four pounds last week I was kind of hoping there would be a little more water weight from the holiday flights lurking somewhere and I’d lose a bit more. So far this week the healthy eating is going well, along with the exercising. Ok, so I know it’s only Monday and there is the small matter of the bag of Maltesers… Continue reading
23 May 2010 – I swear I can detect muscles
After the laying on a towel stint yesterday Commando went out while I was gardening and bought some new sun beds. The trouble is they’re the same as the last ones, cheap metal frames and canvas. They hardly last one summer and, to me, it all feels like a waste of money. I did suggest it might have been better to spend a bit more on some decent ones that would last a few years but, by then, the deed was done. Still, at least I had somewhere to sit during my gardening coffee break. Continue reading
22 May 2010 – I could be nine stone something by November…probably
Sunshine at the weekend is a rarity even here on the Sunny South Coast. I probably should have done some exercise or gone for a walk but I didn’t. Instead I spent the day in the garden in my bikini laying on a towel because the loungers from last year are broken. There was no champagne, just orange juice, and the sun wasn’t as hot as Turkey but at least it was topping up the tan. Continue reading
18 May 2010 – progress is just one latte
So tired…can hardly think straight. It has been a rubbish day. Zero sales, lots of moaners and, just before eight o’clock, a mega moaner who ended up as a manager escalation. Kim wasn’t happy because it meant she had to stay late to deal with it. It was almost half past eight by the time I walked through the turnstile and out into the dusk. Of course Rae had already gone and so had the ten past eight bus. The next one wasn’t due until ten past nine so I walked. Continue reading
17 May 2010 – water weight?
Weigh in this morning and, unaccountably, four pounds have disappeared. That makes no sense because I’ve been terrible on the eating front since I came back from Turkey and there was a meal out and champagne at the weekend. I’m taking it though and it’s made me more determined to nail the last two stone once and for all. Imagine weighing nine stone something! Continue reading
15 May 2010 – a late birthday meal
All day I’d been dashing about getting shopping, cleaning, gardening and yet more washing done. When I sank down into the chair with a well earned cup of coffee I realised the day was nearly over and soon I’d have to start thinking about making dinner. Continue reading
13 May 2010 – struggling to get back on the wagon
For all my big talk about learning lessons from the weight gain I’m finding it hard to get back to sensible eating after my week away. It’s as if a taste of forbidden fruit (or in this case chocolate) has wiped out all I’ve learned. Back in the canteen I can’t resist the lattes, worse still I can’t seem to walk past the chocolate bars either. I’ve had one every single day even though each morning I tell myself I won’t. At this rate there’s going to be a gain rather than a loss when I next weigh in. Continue reading
