16 September 2011 – walking off the weight

IMG_5663

There were 1116 calories burnt today, this may well be a record. This morning I went for a walk along the river, just me and my trusty backpack. It was cloudy when I left home but by the time I got to the river the sun was out and I had to atop to put my sunglasses on because the sun was shining up off the water. Amazing how good some grass, trees, blue sky and the river can make you feel. Continue reading

13 September 2011 – 9 down 5 to go, the chocolate issue

IMG_5683

Well another day ticked off of the 14 I promised myself. I started the day with the beach body workout which takes 30 mins, had my usual breakky and shower and set off for work. It was sunny but windy here today and my walk to work with my 16lb backpack took a full 5 mins longer than usual because I was walking into the wind. Thought I was going to blown over the side when I got to the bridge. Continue reading

12 September 2011 – the small issue of coffee

20120915-140729

Today I started with the pump it up beach body workout for 30 mins. It’s a tough old workout and I certainly needed a shower afterwards. I had my normal weekday muesli, fromage frais, fresh orange juice cocoa combo for breakfast. Sadly the walk to work didn’t happen because of the gales and rain and Commando gave me a lift it. I did manage to get a bit of walking in at lunchtime though with my backpack. Continue reading

8 September 2011 – At the risk of boring you…

IMG_5666

It was tough going back to normal hours and normal calls today but all in all not a bad day at work. I must say I’m feeling worn out tonight though. The day started with a 30 min pump it up session then my normal weekday breakfast. After a quick shower it was off to walk to work with my back pack. I also managed a little walk at lunch time. Continue reading

27 July 2011 – Grazing

images

Sirona gave me a voucher to try out Graze boxes and the free sample arrived yesterday while I was at work. It looks very impressive. For anyone who doesn’t know about graze boxes, they’re boxes of little packs of healthy snacks. You choose all the different things you like, and each week they send you a box. I’m probably more excited by mine than anyone really should be about boxes of seeds and nuts but still. Continue reading

2 July 2011 – veg and smoothies

IMG_6582

This morning I was stuck outside while Commando jet washed the decking so I made the most of it by gardening. On the veg patch little baby tomatoes were forming, radishes coming up and the first cabbages and cauliflower were ready to cut. I also cut some corriander seeds to dry and picked a load more peas. The slugs have managed to use overhanging leaves to jump over the copper tape and get in amongst the veg so there was a chopping back and slug picking session. I know I could use slug pellets but I don’t like killing things, even slugs. It may sound silly but my Buddhist persuasion will not let me do it. I picked them all off and put them elsewhere in the garden where they can’t do so much damage. I have a sneaking suspicion they will find their way back. I swear I have homing slugs. Grow your own – 4 June 2011

image56

Right now I’m concentrating on healthy eating and that involves eating as fresh and organic as I can. What better than to grow my own veg then? With this in mind I’ve spent the afternoon out in the garden weeding and cutting back. My little veg garden is doing really well. I have pods on the pea plants that look like they will be ready to pick in the next week or so. The tomato plants have their first lot of flowers just coming out and the first spring onions are beginning to swell. Continue reading

14 May 2011 – Moonwalk day has arrived

1 moonwalk

So the Moonwalk day has finally arrived. We made it to London and checked into the Travel Inn at Putney. This was when I realised I’d forgotten my socks for heavens sake! Luckily, as we were driving to the hotel I’d  seen an M&S and a sports shop close by so we went for a stroll and I now have socks. They’re padded underneath which may prove to be a godsend. We had a quick coffee and seed bar in Pret and I’m now going to try to have a snooze while Commando watches the FA cup final. Can’t wait to meet everyone later… Continue reading
