11 March 2011 – fitting in a walk before the dentist

Riverside Park

Riverside Park

True to my world I did get up extra early this morning to get some walking time in before my dentist appointment. Originally the dentist was meant to be 11.45 but, due to a cancellation, it was moved forward an hour, seriously cutting into my walking time. Grrr! Continue reading

10 March 2011 – am I getting fitter?

wet and miserable on the bridge this morning

wet and miserable on the bridge this morning

The morning started with Pump it Up, the tougher work out today. It didn’t seem quite so hard as last time so I must be getting used to it agin.Either that or I’m actually getting fitter. I do love a good dance based workout and it’s nice that these days I look a lot more like the skinny girls on the screen than I used to. There’s definitley not so much wobbling flab! After that it was off for a shower and then work. Continue reading

11 February 2011 – walking in the rain and a bad head

When I set off this morning it was a bit drizzly but I wrapped up well and decided to do laps of the river again so I wouldn’t be too far from home if it got worse.

The first lap was fine, I saw the black swan again and he seemed to be quite friendly with one of the White swans. Now that could make for some interesting cygnets in the spring! Continue reading

4 February 2011 – sixteen miles!

a damp and miserable park

a damp and miserable park

This morning I was feeling quite tired after a mad week at work. We had a special promotion this week so not only did we have a lot of calls but we had a lot of new things to remember and to fit into each call without messing up our stats. We also have a whole new list of things we are being targeted on so the brain is feeling a little frazzled. It’s quite hard to get used to all these changes while sounding like you know what you’re doing at all times and remembering to check all the things that have to be checked on each account plus giving good service. I guess it will get easier next week.

28 January 2011 – walking away the grumps

I was a bit headachy this morning after a rubbishy week at work. Yesterday was pants and I had my worst ever customer who actually ended the call by repeatedly telling me to F*** off after telling me he wanted to talk to a man. Not a good way to avoid paying your bill but some people seem to think it will work. As I don’t have a radiator in the bathroom at the moment it’s been very chilly showering all week too which hasn’t improved my mood. Well, technically I do have a radiator, the new one is leaning up against the wall but isn’t connected yet. Continue reading

21 January 2011 – walking with swans

I set off nice and early this morning just after it got light. It was frosty and freezing so I wrapped up warm in my parka and long eared hat. My breath came out in white clouds as I walked.

There weren’t many people around when I reached the park but the swans were there all puffed up looking very cold. There were a couple who kept rising up out of the water and spreading their wings wide. I wondered if they were males enacting some kind of courtship display, either that or they were having a good stretch. Continue reading

14 January 2011 – walking through my past

I’m getting fed up with missing my long walks because of the weather so, even though it was raining this morning I decided to attempt a long walk. Setting off early, I wrapped up with my long eared hat and my parka with the furry hood. It wasn’t raining too much when I left but I had already decided to give the Riverside walk a miss because of the flooding last week which could only be worse after seven more days of rain. Continue reading

7 January 2011 – thinking of building an arc

This morning I got up early determined to do a long walk. Fifteen miles was the target. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas. I don’t mind a bit of wet but this was ridiculous. if it carries on like this I may also have to start thinking about building a boat, a la Noah! It’s bren raining for the last two days and I’ve been wet when I got to work but this was a whole new level of rain.

1 January 2011- back on the wagon and footie

Well it’s time to get back on the wagon good and proper and put the excesses of Christmas behind me. Maybe 2011 will be the year I banish those extra pounds for ever. Starting today with a walk to the stadium for the New Year’s Day footie! Continue reading

12 November 2010 – moonwalk training along the shore

The shore

The shore

Eating my breakfast at seven o’clock this morning I wondered briefly what on earth I was doing up so early on my day off? Obviously I am mad! Because of the rain over the least week I thought I’d give the Riverside walk a miss today. It tends to flood down there so I thought it might be a bit tricky. Instead I walked in the opposite direction, up The Big Hill and down the long road to Woolston, where I used to live years ago.

It is a good three miles down to the shore and not the prettiest walk, which is what has put me off doing this before. Continue reading
