20 June 2012 – Jobs fair

bridge

The jobs fair was very positive and gave me lots of interesting ideas. It also meant I went to work in a dress for the first time in living memory. A few of the employers expressed an interest in mE and took my bran new, shiny CV but some of them were too far away and some I’m not interested in as it’s call centre work again. Continue reading

1 May 2012 – the good news, the bad news and the uncertainty

IMG_1664

Hi folks. Just to let you know I am still around just skulking in the background. After the redundancy announcement last Monday I’ve been a bit lax with the logging etc and, if I’m honest, eaten way too much. Comfort eating I know. Also had the girls from work round on Friday night and a great deal of alcohol was consumed, plus a photo of the infamous Mad House MD who came to our office on Friday and told us all how hard it was for him to close our building pinned up on the punch bag got a good beating. Continue reading

24 January 2012 – a puzzle

bridge

Today I am feeling pretty rubbish but I’m off to work anyway. We have a pretty draconian sickness policy at Mad House so everyone goes to work unless they are incapable of leaving the house and even then it’s frowned upon. Hence everyone spreads their germs around. So I shall be spreading my germs around today. Continue reading

12 January 2012 – A little rant

office-3

Yesterday morning Mad House was one of the companies mentioned on a rather over the top news item. Watching, I knew it was going to feature in my phone calls. I was right. We all had a horrible day because everyone who saw the sensationalist press believed that they were entitled to some kind of compensation for things as trivial as their fridge delivery being half an hour late. Continue reading

4 September 2011 – Almost back to normal

IMG_1585

Finally we seem to be getting Bard’s flat back to normal and with it our lives. I am very proud of him because he had always had a kind heart and is willing to lend a helping hand. Sadly, this time it caused him a bit of trouble but all is now more or less sorted out. Bard’s face is looking a lot better too. We had to buy a new toilet as his friend managed to smash the old one. Commando fitted it for him this weekend and things are finally looking more or less ok. Continue reading

9 June 2011 – fall out and targets

office-3

We had a mad rain storm with hailstones yesterday afternoon. Thank goodness I got CJ’s sleeping bag in from the washing line before I went to work. He’s off to the Download festival today so I have a nice peaceful weekend ahead of me.The member of staff stuck in the lift last night was a female manager. They took over an hour to get her out. As it was after eight o’clock she was probably pretty late home. Good job it wasn’t me because I would have been panicking and would also have probably had to pee in the corner at least twice. struggling – 8 June 2011

IMG_5666

Since I got back from holiday I’ve been struggling to get back on track with food and exercise. You are meant to feel rested after a holiday but I feel worn out. It probably doesn’t help that we have new systems to learn at work. We started using them yesterday afternoon along with the old ones, so now we are running three systems all together which is tough. I thought my head was going to explode at one point. We also had two power cuts in the afternoon which caused mayhem as all three systems went down. The last was a quarter of an hour before we went home and there were people stuck in the lifts when we walked down the stairs from floor eight to get out. Glad that wasn’t me! Continue reading

4 May 2011 – not reaching for the biscuits

20121019-215359

Today I will be mostly feeling proud of myself. One of the hardest lessons to learn in this weigh loss journey os how to conquer emotional eating. Last night gave me ample opportunity to practice as everything in my house went pear shaped and I was sitting in the middle of it all feeling fragile to say the least. Continue reading

2 March 2011 – a bit of a scare

scary walk

scary walk

We have had another manic day on the phones with some horrible customers to make it all so much more fun. To top it all, we found out that one of our members of staff got stabbed outside in the car park yesterday afternoon. Luckily they were not seriously hurt but it does explain why there were police everywhere yesterday afternoon. Apparently one of the tramps who hang around the building all the time did it after being refused a cigarette. Leaving tonight at eight didn’t feel safe at all, although there were a few of us together. There are always so many tramps and beggars around our building and they are always coming up to us asking for money or cigarettes. Continue reading
