9 October 2010 – hungry and tired

Dashing for the North Pole

Dashing for the North Pole

After my disastrous Riverside walk yesterday morning I thought I was doing pretty well on the exercise front and planned a quiet evening maybe reading my book.

Commando usually goes to work at four on a Friday and come home at about one in the morning. After my dinner I usually have a quiet evening possibly including a little snooze so I am still awake when he comes in. At four I was looking forward to this as I was quite tired and still a bit lurgy filled. Then Commando announced he wasn’t going to work. He’d booked the night off. He suggested we walk into town, meet up with Bard, our middle boy, and have something to eat. Bard is a musician so money is sporadic and we often worry he’s not eating properly. Continue reading

30 September 2010 – hit by the lurgy

image

Things got off to a bad start this morning. I woke up feeling rubbish. Rae has some kind of lurgy and I think she’s given it to me. The Wii didn’t seem like a good plan with a throbbing head so I decided to conserve my energy for the walk to work and took some high does vitamin C to try to ward off the germs. Continue reading

23 September – fear of going it alone

In a dither

In a dither

When I woke up this morning I told myself it was a new day. I read through all the comments about the new site last night and it seems like most people are going to give the new site a go so I guess I will too. Hopefully it will be OK and we will soon get used to it. Feeling very determined, if still a little tired, I did my Wii and some cycling then set off for a wet walk to work. Continue reading

16 September 2010 – TGI temptations

Not time for the gym

Not time for the gym

Last working day of the week for me today and bright outside so far. I won’t be doing much exercise today because I’m going straight from work to TGI Fridays for a team night out. With this in mind I’ve been careful with my calories all week and good with exercise so hopefully this will not mean a gain on Monday. The plan is not to go overboard with food tonight but, with the girls around, anything can happen. Continue reading

10 September 2010 – girls night fallout

On the way to the dentist

On the way to the dentist

It was late to bed for me last night with the girls round but I was good and just had one rum and diet coke and stuck to the nuts when it came to nibbles. Even then I kept the nibbling to a minimum. This meant I stayed within calories if you don’t count the exercise ones I ate. Continue reading

9 September 2010 – feeling tired

Struggling across the bridge with extra sandbags

Struggling across the bridge with extra sandbags

This morning I cut my work out short because I was feeling a little tired. Every morning this week I’ve done my Wii Fit and used the kettle bells when doing the sit up and lunge parts. Every night I’ve done twenty minutes of step with my back pack on and I’ve marched to work every day despite drizzly weather. Continue reading

5 September 2010 – why do holidays go so fast?

image

It was pretty miserable and wet here today so I had a little play with the kettle bells and exercise bike. Years ago I used to have an exercise bike and did about 45 mins every morning while doing curls and raises with my hand weights at the same time. It seemed pretty easy back then. Today I did thirty minutes on the bike while watching TV. After ten minutes my thighs were really burning. Thirty minutes was all I could manage before I more or less collapsed in a heap and that was without using any hand weights. My legs are still wobbly now and I can see I am going to have to work on this a bit more. Oh well, the flabby thinghs need some work any way so I guess it’s all good. Continue reading

25 August 2010 – soaked and tired but still working out

Tuesday 24th • Exercise: 962 • Consumed: 963

Today
• Exercise: 1158
• Consumed: 1190

Today was wet but I managed to get to work without getting too drenched, although it was spitting with rain most of the way. Other than that it was quite a normal day. I walked up and down the stairs a few times with my rucksack. At eight o’clock when I left the office it was really raining so I decided to take the bus, especially as it was already dark because of the rain. As I got to the bus stop there was a bus there waiting so I ran. He waited until I got right to the door then drove off. Why do they do that? Im sure they get some perverse joy out of it. Anyway, as the next bus wasn’t for half an hour and it takes me about thirty five to forty minutes to walk home, I decided to walk despite the rain. After all I was going to get wet waiting so I might as well walk and burn some calories. Continue reading

16 August 2010 – stairs and sandbags

New rucksack

11 st 1.6 lb
• Exercise: 777
• Consumed: 1123

This morning, ater a good weigh in where I lost 2 lb, YAY, I decided that I would carry my sandbags in my brand new rucksack on my walk to work to burn some extra calories. All went well and I got to work at the usual time, a little but more tired than usual but no problem. Inside the building I foolishly decided that, to be really good, I would walk up the stairs (I’m on floor 6 so there are 12 flights!). Last week I promised myself I would try to do this at least once a day from now on but, when I made that promise, I hadn’t factored in the sandbags. Continue reading

Thursday • Exercise: 679 • Consumed: 1129

Today
• Exercise: 1101
• Consumed: 1296

True to my word I did the riverside walk again this morning. This time I filled my little leather Versace rucksack with the weights from my rebook weights. I weighed the rucksack, complete with weights and all the other rubbish I carry around and it was well over 11 lb! This was not some kind of masochistic self torture but an effort to burn more calories. Last night I checked it out on the BL having exercise calories and it really does work, well, in theory anyway, the proof of the pudding… Continue reading
