28 February 2012 – Cake not avoided

Oh dear! We had a charity cake sale today at work for the make a wish foundation. I really tried to avoid eating any but bought one for my friend so I could contribute. I also purposely bought cake to sell that I don’t like so I wouldn’t be tempted by my own. Unfortunately my friend returned the favour and bought me a cake. I left it on my desk and covered it with a tissue so I wasn’t tempted but in the end I gave in. It was a lovely chocolate cupcake and I ate it. Continue reading

14 December 2011 – Christmas team night temptation

There are way too many chances to fall off the wagon at this time of year. Tomorrow night we have our works Christmas meal. Everything seems to revolve around eating at this time of year and I think all we can do is try our best and then get back to basics in January. Continue reading

1 November 2010 – not stuck after all

Despite being sick, doing very little exercise and a bit of comfort eating I lost 1.6 pounds this week. Perhaps I’m not stuck after all. The clocks going back played havoc with my body clock and I found it hard to drag myself out of bed this morning and drag myself back to work to face the music. Continue reading

26 August 2010 – then I went and spoiled it all

Resisted

Resisted

• Exercise: 504
• Consumed: 1153

As today was my last day at work before a whole week off I’m delighted its over. No work now until the Monday after next. WOO HOO! There were not many people in today because lots of people are working their rest day next week so they can have an extra long bank holiday weekend. Because of the low numbers and Kim being off we were really busy so my team and Cherry’s team joined forces. Because we hit our targets, Cherry, bought Pizzas for everyone for lunch. I am really proud to say that I had my sandwich and resisted the pizzas altogether. Continue reading

17 July 2010 – takeaway disaster

• Exercise: 1037
• Consumed: 1525

Good day again. I went to the village this morning to get the ingredients for charity cakes for work then spent the afternoon in the garden clipping away. Two big garden bags were filled up with all the mess. Of course I didn’t do it to Commando’s exacting standards but I burnt over 700 calories all the same. Continue reading

13 July 2010 – carb temptation

Pasta temptation

Pasta temptation

Tonight I was sorely tempted to abandon the no carb evenings. Commando had cooked (well he thinks it’s cooking really it’s just warming up) the pasta I prepared on Sunday for dinner. It looked lovely and I really wanted to eat it. I stood looking at it for ages having an argument with myself in my head. In the end my good girl head won. I threw the garlic bread in the bin, making sure to push it right to the bottom with all the moldy vegetable peelings so I couldn’t get it back out and eat it. Actually that’s not strictly true, I did save two slices, and I put them and the pasta in a plastic container to take to work for lunch tomorrow. Then I made myself a no carb meal of low fat sausage, egg and bacon (all dry fried in my new non stick pan). I’m really proud of myself. I did plenty of exercise today too, the Wii Fit routine this morning, walked to work and Wii Fit again this evening. All good going. Continue reading

4 January 2010 – temptation and festive fatty prejudice

Incriminating pile of wrappers

Incriminating pile of wrappers

Thankfully all the sweets in the office have disappeared. This means there is less chance to eat rubbish during the ten hours of the day I’m chained to my headset. Unfortunately the sweets at home seem to be hanging about a little longer, not to mention biscuits, mince pies and assorted other bits of Christmas leftover junk. Considering I bought so much less this year I don’t understand why it seems to be lasting so long. Maybe Commando had another tin stashed away and he’s secretly refilling this one when I’m at the office. Continue reading

22 November 2009 – Christmas market temptation

Colourful slippers on the German Market

Colourful slippers on the German Market

Today the Christmas lights were switched on in town. We missed it, although we did go to look at the German market. What is it about us and Christmas lights? For all my bah humbug I do like the Christmas market, lots of little stalls with all sorts of interesting things, handmade wooden toys, scarves, slippers, jewellery. There is mulled wine and German sausages, the smell alone has probably made me put on a pound or two. Continue reading
